SNA Level 5 & Level 6

The Special Needs Assistant course Level 5 (5N1786 )& (5N2356) and Level 6 (6N1957) will be delivered and QQI validated by The College of Progressive Education.

SNA Level 5: This QQI Level 5 SNA course is designed to facilitate learners who intend to work with children with special needs in an educational setting.
It is run in partnership with the Progressive College, Dublin.
Applicants will be required to obtain 30 hours work placement. Students must complete the Garda Vetting process before starting the work placement. Continuous evaluation is the method of assessment. After completing the Level 5 course, students will be eligible to take Level 6.

SNA Level 6: The purpose of this QQI Level 6 Special Needs Assistant (SNA) programme is to equip the learner with the skills necessary to ensure adults or children with special needs are offered the same opportunity to access education compared to those who do not have special needs. Learners will examine the different educational options available for children in Ireland under current legalisation.

This programme will outline the importance of the difference between an inclusive and integrated educational environment. The learner will also study the impact of special needs on behaviour and understand the different techniques to help with maladaptive behaviour. Learners will also understand the importance of stress management.
Course Duration Level 6: 10 weeks
Cost €400 (includes course materials, accessed via Moodle E-learning platform) Instalment payment available on-line.

QQI accredited course means that students gain an Internationally Recognised Qualification.
